Stephen Voorhees began conducting in 2005 with several ad-hoc ensembles at the University of Utah, and a generous mentor at the Utah Symphony.  That year, after a few phone calls, and with a little persuasion, he got an invitation to conduct for a Murray city production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.”  He was quickly invited to do more shows, and within two years he had conducted eight different productions across the Salt Lake City area.

Currently, Stephen is the director of the Celebration Chamber Orchestra in Davis County, Utah.  Additionally, he has organized and conducted ensembles that provide young winners of the Utah Summer Arts piano competition the opportunity to play with an orchestra.  He takes on a wide variety of projects from music for student films, to concerts of new music by Utah composers.  He has guest conducted community orchestras and bands around Utah, and also taught elementary school music for three years. He continues to find and create new opportunities as he builds a professional conducting career.

Recently Stephen has become a partner in a music publishing and music services company, Broschinsky Music.  www.bromusicpress.com
